How these 5 things helped me in becoming a multi-tasker

My Life, My Job, My Career: How these 5 things helped me in becoming a multi-tasker

If you want to be up there, stop succumbing to sob stories. That’s what I have always adhered to, and I must say that this belief of mine has consistently assisted me in being motivated, innovative, and confident.

From where I come, sob stories don’t have a place. Being brought up in a family of 14 with little to no access to resources, all you have is hope and a vision to grow. Either you take the sympathetic route, or you make the most of what comes your way. On any day, I’ll prefer the latter.

Since my childhood, I have had that urge to grow and do justice to my potential. The best thing to succeed is to put your satisfaction level way up the ladder so that your ambition doesn’t die until you achieve what you aspire to.

But there’s more to “simply growing.” The urge to thrive is strengthened when you know what path to take. As for me, multi-tasking has always been my favored approach to moving forward.

Now, as you know that I will be guiding you through some great multi-tasking approaches in this article. For that, I’d like you to know more about me and why I am the right person to do that.

  • First off, I’m currently working as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) where I assist clients at their homes or health care facilities.
  • Second, I have been pursuing a dual degree in Nursing and Midwifery from Australia.
  • Third, I’m a part of one of the world’s largest direct sellers of telecommunications, energy, and essential services for homes and businesses.
  • Fourth, I’m serving as the secretary for the Somali Action Community in Melbourne (SACM).
  • Fifth, as a co-founder, I have been administering Somali Healthcare Professionals (SHP) organization.
  • Along with all of these, I have been heading two different websites—one that you’re enjoying right now and the other which is related to clothing.

I’m not trying to impress you but to impress upon you. It’s just to let you know that the approaches mentioned below are worthwhile for you to consider.

I am on a mission to recognize the importance of the relationship between nurses and entrepreneurship. But how am I able to manage all these things? If you read the aforementioned carefully, you’ll notice that all my endeavors are centered on the betterment of my career and what I want.

With that, let me guide you through some of the techniques that have helped me multitask more efficiently:

1. Make a to-do list

The first thing that the corporate sector teaches is the organization of work. When you make a to-do list, you allow yourself and your work to be organized. Upon doing that, everything becomes manageable, and that’s what you always desire, isn’t it?

2. Prioritize your work

Some things are more important than others, and we shouldn’t forget that. For instance, if I have to choose between a college assignment and a blog post, I’ll pick the former because I know that, at this moment, it is more critical for my career. But, that doesn’t imply that I would overlook what’s been left. In short, prioritize but don’t be ignorant.

3. Two hours of Time Block

Now, this is a secret recipe for success. While it’s most obvious, hardly anyone uses it as a measure to garner productivity. The time block is a period where you do a particular task without any distractions. For example, I used a two-hours Time Block for writing this blog. While doing that, I didn’t check anything, including emails, messages, etc. All I did was focus on my writing, and I guess it worked. Didn’t it?

4. Delegating the tasks

When you know that you have a constrained time frame and a lot of work, delegating is what you should practice. It’s the process of employing other people to do your job. In short, you outsource your work, which is how entrepreneurs work in the modern day. But ensure that the work is assigned to competent people.

Richard Branson rightly said, “When you’re getting ready to juggle multiple businesses, you should be sure that you have enough hands to catch every ball.”

5. Avoid distractions

No doubt, everything’s on the Internet including the article you’re reading right now. But the same Internet can be your most significant source of distraction. You know what social media and constant chats can do to your concentration, right? Make sure you reserve time away from all these things to become productive at what you do.

Last but not least, make sure you are aware of your capability to manage. In Nicholas Gremion’s words— “Don’t try to handle too much at once.”
