Have you ever felt like your dreams were slipping through your fingers? You know what you want in life, but somehow, it all feels distant—just out of reach. That was me. 2024 was a whirlwind of change.
I graduated from nursing and midwifery, began my grad year, and even got married. I launched my business, NursingpreneurShop, where I create personalized mugs for healthcare professionals.
From the outside, it probably looked like I had EVERYTHING together—but inside, I often felt like I was spinning in circles, trying to juggle all these huge life changes.
Then something shifted.
One evening, after a long day, I sat in front of a blank poster board and started pinning up images.
At first, they were random—things that caught my eye. A picture of a beautiful beach, a cozy living room, a successful businesswoman… all the things I dreamt of.
But as I sat there, I started noticing patterns.
These weren’t just random images; they were pieces of a bigger picture—a picture of the LIFE I wanted to create.
And that’s how my vision board was BORN.
Let me tell you, the moment I finished that board, something incredible happened.
I no longer felt scattered.
For the first time in months, I could actually see my dreams, laid out in front of me. And suddenly, they felt real, possible, within reach.
If you’re feeling lost or like your goals are just dreams without a plan, maybe it’s time to create a vision board. Let me show you how it worked for me.
7 Steps to Create a Vision Board That Brings Your Dreams to Life
1.Start with Reflection:
I remember sitting down one evening with a cup of tea, ready to begin. But I didn’t start with images or words—I started with a question.
What do I really want?
Sure, I knew I wanted to be a successful nurse and run a business, but what else? I dug deep, thinking about what would truly make me feel fulfilled.
For you, the first step is the same—pause and reflect. Don’t rush. Let your mind wander.
What does your dream life look like? What fills you with excitement?
For me, it was a blend of personal and professional goals—becoming an exceptional nurse, building my Business, traveling more, and staying healthy.
2. Gaather Visuals That Resonate:
This part was my favorite. I started by flipping through magazines, scrolling through Pinterest, and printing out pictures that sparked something in me.
I found images of the life I wanted: the perfect home with floor-to-ceiling windows, a beachside retreat, and my brand-new car with a pink bow on top—the very car I now drive, by the way!
Every picture made my heart race with possibility. That’s what I want you to feel when you gather your own visuals—find images that give you that electric spark—the ones that make you feel like youre already there.
3. Layout with Intention:
I didn’t just slap those images onto my board. No. I placed them with purpose. On one side of my board, I put career goals—images that reminded me of my nursing career and growing the business that I love.
On the other side, I placed my personal dreams—like pictures of me working out, traveling, and staying balanced.
Imagine how you want your life to feel and let that guide how you arrange your board. You’ll see how it starts to paint a clear picture of the life you’re working toward. (See my visual board for Ideas!)
4. Keep it Visible and Update it Often:
Here’s the thing—your vision board can’t just be something you create and then forget about. I hung mine up where I could see it every single day—right in my bedroom, where I’d look at it every morning.
And as life changes, so should your board. When I planned to travel after my grad year, I added new images of places I wanted to visit. Every time I looked at it, I felt a sense of clarity, a reminder that my dreams weren’t just daydreams—they were part of my future.
5. Take Action, Even Small Steps:
Here’s where the real magic happens—action. The vision board alone won’t make your dreams come true. But it can guide you, keep you focused.
Every day, I looked at my board and took at least one small step. Whether it was delivering mugs or preparing for a nursing shift, I moved forward bit by bit.
And with every small action, my dreams came closer into view.
6. Add Personal Touches:
I wanted my vision board to be a reflection of my life—not just a collection of magazine clippings. So I added personal photos—pictures from my wedding, my graduation, and even some candid snapshots of my fitness journey.
These personal touches made my board feel alive, like it wasn’t just a collage of dreams, but a living reminder of everything I’d accomplished and everything I was working toward.
7. Set a Daily Intention Around It:
Every morning, before the craziness of the day took over, I’d glance at my board and set a simple intention. Today, I am one step closer to my dreams. That small act of mindfulness anchored me. Even when things felt chaotic, I knew I was still on the right path.
Your vision board isn’t just about looking at the future. It’s about taking daily steps to make it happen.
How My Vision Board Changed My Life in 2024
This year has been a journey. I graduated from nursing and midwifery, got married, and launched my Shop—all while balancing the challenges of life.
There were days I felt overwhelmed, unsure of how I’d manage everything. But then, I’d glance at my vision board, and it all made sense again.
In the last few months, I’ve traveled a bit and have more plans for when I complete my grad year. I’ve stayed committed to my health, working out 2-3 times a week, and slowly, my business has grown.
I’ve even connected with fellow healthcare professionals through my personalized mugs. Every mug is made with love and care—just like the passion we bring to our work.
Looking back, I realize that my vision board wasn’t just a collection of pretty pictures. It was a lifeline, a daily reminder of why I started, and how far I’ve come.
